Axe the Hike
Labour-run Hammersmith & Fulham Council is drawing up plans that could double your council tax. A rise of up to 150% in the council's share would cost a Band D household an extra £29.11 every week, pushing the total bill from around £1,519 to more than £3,000 in a single year. Less than a year ago, council leader Stephen Cowan promised residents there would be no extraordinary tax rises during the cost of living crisis. Now families are being asked to pay double, while the council won't even publish the final cost of its own Civic Campus project. Council tax is an unfair tax that hits pensioners, young families and those on modest incomes hardest. This rise is wrong, and together we can stop it.
Axe the Hike
I call on Hammersmith & Fulham's Labour council to keep its promise, scrap plans to double council tax, and axe the hike.
