Interested in becoming a councillor?
We are running an event on Saturday 28th September to provide members with an overview of how a council works and what it means to be a councillor.
There will be a panel of speakers, all existing councillors from different boroughs with different backgrounds.
They will talk about their experience and you will be able to ask as many questions as you want. There will also be a more general section on how a council works.
To be eligible to stand for councillor, you must be:
- Either on the electoral register for the council area in which you are seeking election, or have lived or worked in that council area for at least the last twelve months.
- At least 18 years old on the day you are nominated.
- A British subject or a citizen of the Irish Republic or the EU and resident in the UK.
- To stand for election as a Liberal Democrat councillor you must also be a Liberal Democrat party member.
