PAUL KENNEDY WILL FIGHT TO WIN TOWN WARD BY-ELECTION

Paul Kennedy

Paul Kennedy,

:

Local Liberal Democrats have asked Paul Kennedy to be their candidate for the Town Ward by-election on 15 October, following the sad death of Councillor Lillis.

Paul will be campaigning for a safer, fairer, greener Fulham.

"This is our chance to bring local democracy back to Fulham. Because of the disproportionate way our winner-takes-all voting system operated in 2006, all the other 22 councillors in the Fulham area are currently Conservatives. There is nobody on the Council to hold the administration to account on behalf of local residents. Labour have given up here, and the all-powerful Tories seem to be more interested in pandering to commercial developers and other interests than in putting residents first. So now, more than ever, we need a hardworking local councillor who will listen to residents' concerns and stand up for them in the Council. Following the Lib Dems' historic by-election victory in nearby Kensington and Chelsea in July, we are fighting to win in Town Ward."

Paul Kennedy is the only candidate who is a Town Ward resident, having lived in Barclay Road for nearly 20 years. A lawyer with two teenage children, he is a longstanding member of his local PTA and the Lady Margaret Music Society, and a supporter of the London Cycling Campaign, the National Trust and the Green Liberal Democrats.
