Goldhawk Industrial Estate Meeting Wed 17 June,10.31.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 11th Jun 2009 Developers London and Newcastle have made some amendments to their much criticised scheme for the redevelopment of the Goldhawk Industrial Estate in Brackenbury Village. The new plans are now available and the developers' representatives, PPS, have arranged a "drop-in surgery" next week for us to find out more. The surgery will take place on Wednesday 17 June 2009 in the Courtyard Room in Hammersmith Town Hall from 5.30 pm until 8 pm. "Representatives from the project team will be on hand to explain how the scheme has evolved and answer any questions you have about the plans. Town Planning, Transport, Design and Daylight consultants will be on hand to answer individual questions from local residents." The developers want to replace a small estate of 11 light industrial units with a mixed use development comprising four new buildings: a four storey building containing 8 commercial (Class B1) units and 33 flats ranging from 1 to 4 bedroom units; a terrace of 3 two-storey mews houses; and two terraces comprising 21 town houses of between two and three storeys; plus 58 basement parking spaces and 3 surface level spaces. (6 of the 57 housing units will be shared ownership). Residents of Brackenbury Village have protested strongly about the overwhelming scale of the development, the density, effects on traffic and on parking provision in neighbouring streets, the high risk that the commercial units would not be viable and would later be converted to housing and the effect of the bulk of the building on the character of nearby streets. Those unable to attend the developers' meeting at such short notice may contact H&F Council for more details, including how to make objections, or get in touch with Brackenbury Village Residents through their "Facebook Group". (For the uninitiated, the Facebook pages may be viewed by non-members, but joining allow you to get updates as the situation evolves). Related Links:H&F Council planning consulation page.
